I found this book placed neatly stacked on top of other books on my bookshelf, right where I left it after my last reading session last summer. I bought Pageboy from my university’s bookstore during a week where I felt inspired and motivated to incorporate reading back into my routine. The purchase felt meaningful, because of my respect and appreciation for Elliot Page. Picking up his memoir felt like bringing home a story I genuinely wanted to hear firsthand. I remember opening it at my summer job, and reading in brief bursts.

Despite my initial momentum, the summer came to an end and classes began. I set it on the shelf and told myself I’d be back to finish reading it. However, it has remained untouched this entire semester. The bookmarked page will be waiting for me when, one day, I’ll pick it up again to continue exactly where I left off.
